Meet Mr. John Daly

Meet Mr. John Daly:

Mr. Daly teaches high school English here at Pittsburg School.  He grew up in Wallingford, CT and said that his favorite subject in school was English.  He went to college at Keene State, Southern CT St., and SNHU for grad school.  His favorite thing about college was living with his friends, but his least favorite thing about college was writing research papers.  His master’s degree is in secondary English education.  Currently, he teaches English 7-12, film study, and creative writing.  At this time, he’s been teaching for nine years and puts in about 10 hours a day on his job.  His favorite thing to teach is creative writing because he’s always blown away by the creativity of our students. In his classroom, Mr. Daly’s favorite projects are soundtracks and creative writing portfolios.  Before working here, Mr. Daly worked at McLaughlin Middle School in Manchester, NH.  He does not hold any other jobs at this time.

Mr. Daly decided to become a teacher because he had incredible teachers in his high school that changed his life.  He said, “I wanted to inspire others as my teachers inspired me.”  He feels his best talent is listening and empathizing with others.

Mr. Daly likes to read very much with his favorite genres being non-fiction and realistic fiction.  At this time, Mr. Daly does not have any pets.  He has climbed Mt. Washington twice.  His favorite season is fall when he can go hiking and long-distance running.  In his spare time, Mr. Daly reads, goes for hikes, takes road trips, listens to music, and goes fishing.
